What is the Mission of Taney Village?
The Mission of Taney Village Limited is the care of the elderly, by the provision of accommodation, so that their quality of life may be enhanced, their independence fostered and their dignity preserved. The facilities provided in Taney Village will be available to the Parishioners of Taney and members of the wider community.
What will be the ethos of Taney Village?
Taney Village Limited will operate under a Church of Ireland ethos and will provide care for elderly members of the community of the Church of Ireland faith and also for those from other faiths and none. While Taney Village Limited is a not-for-profit operation; it will be run on a business basis and any surplus generated will be reinvested in the facility or used for the benefit of Taney Parish.
What are the objectives of Taney Village?
The objectives of Taney Village Limited are to provide a continuum of care for people from the time they decide that they wish to enter the complex, meeting all their needs for care, as they grow older in a loving and secure environment.
In particular, the levels of care provided will include;
- Independent Living in one or two bedroom apartments in a secure environment
- Group Supported Living in a caring and secure environment for those who feel that they are not completely able to look after themselves.
- Nursing Home Care for those who are in need of constant care
- High-dependency Care for those with senile dementia and similar conditions
Where will Taney Village be located?
The facility will be constructed on a two-acre site owned by Taney Parish and vested in the Representative Church Body. The site includes the site of Taney Lawn Tennis Club together with an adjacent site purchased in 2003 with access off Taney Road and Taney Park.
Who are the professional advisors for the building project?
The facility will be designed by Duffy Mitchell O’Donoghue, architects and the design team appointed will include Davis Langdon PKS, Quantity Surveyors, HOH Partner Mechanical & Electrical Engineers, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Gerald McConnell and Nicholas O’Dwyer, Civil and Structural Engineers.
What advice is available regarding the provision of nursing care?
Veronica McNamara RGN, SCM, RPN has been acting as an advisor on the design of the complex. She is a registered General Nurse, Psychiatric Nurse and Midwife. As a former Director of Nursing, she has worked for both the Department of Health and the private sector. Veronica is currently employed as Eastern Regional Officer with the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
Who will manage Taney Village?
A Board of Directors elected by the Members according to the Memorandum and Articles of Association will govern Taney Village Limited. The Company will employ an Administrative Manager to look after the day to day running of the Facility and a Nursing Care Manager to look after those aspects of a caring nature. Such other employees as are necessary will be employed either directly or through a third party outsourcing organisation.
What facilities will be provided?
Current projections indicate that the following accommodation will be provided.
- 51 Two Bed Apartments for independent living
- 20 One bed apartments for independent living
- 8 Units for Group Supported Living
- 48 Nursing Home Units
- 20 High Dependency Units
- 8 Suites for Assisted Living
- Basement 95 car parking spaces
What will it cost to buy an apartment?
It is anticipated that the apartments will be for sale at market value and will increase or decrease in value according to the trends in the housing market. It is likely that there will be some restrictions on how purchasers eventually dispose of the apartment.
People purchasing an apartment may be required to sell it back to Taney Village Limited on their departure at the prevailing market value. It is also anticipated that some apartments will be available on a rental basis.
It is also intended that Taney Village Limited will retain some accommodation, which will be allocated to needy parishioners at a rate commensurate with their ability to contribute.
The current market value for apartments in the Dundrum area is in the range of €350,000 to €450,000.
When will Taney Village be ready for occupation?
Construction will start as soon as the banks release the money. Construction times is estimated at just under 2 years.
